Anitha is one of a handful of weavers still carrying the Gollabhama figure, the milkmaid worked across the pallu in extra weft with a separate spool for every repeat. A full pallu takes her a month, and she keeps a paper chart of figure counts her grandmother drew, folded inside the loom's bench.

The loom is not only work. It is how I remember my mother, and how I teach my daughter.
